New Funds for Contemporart Art

The Office for Contemporary Art (OCA) seek applicants for funds to enhance collaboration in the contemporary art field. Indian artists, independent cultural producers and organizations are encouraged to apply.

The International Ibsen Scholarships are applicable for individuals, organizations or institutions within the artistic and cultural communities in India, with May 1st as the final deadline.

The Norwegian folk band ‘Seven Winds’ that includes singer Unni Løvlid with two musicians, Becaye Aw and Rolf-Erik Nystrøm paid tribute to the Norwegian poet Olav H. Hauge on 14th December at Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi. The occasion witnessed a book release of Hauge’s poems translated into Hindi.

Heavy Norwegian rhythms will headline at the biggest rock festival in India this autumn, when black metal group Satyricon visits The Great Indian Rock Festival in November.

International Ibsen Conference 2008

The International Ibsen Conference 2008 will be held in Oslo and Skien, Norway from August 30 to September 1. Final date for registration is August 22.

- Outstanding Norwegian architecture has become a vital part of the Norwegian cultural expression, says Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre. The Norwegian design of the International Airport in Hyderabad is a good example of what the Minister wants to showcase.

Art to the people of Delhi!

The Festival '48 degrees Celcius' is a combined initiative of Gõthe Institute and Max Müller Bhavan and GTZ. Through a number of art interventions in various public spaces around Delhi, the Festival hopes to trigger the public’s critical awareness of urban development, environment and beauty.

British director Peter Brook wins Ibsen Prize

The first International Ibsen Prize was presented to the British director Peter Brook (83) at the National Theatre in Oslo on Saturday. The prize is worth NOK 2.5 million.
