Astad Deboo to Oslo

The renowned contemporary Indian dancer and choreographer, Astad Deboo, visits Oslo in the end of March for a three- day workshop.

Astad Deboo is known as the founder of modern dance in India and combines classical Indian dance styles with contemporary dance. Mr. Deboo has a long international career and has worked with various prominent performers such as Pina Bausch, Alison Chase and Pink Floyd.

Astad Deboo is invited to Oslo by the Norwegian Association for performing Arts.

The workshop is a part of the National Theatre’s opening of the Cultural Diversity year 2008 in cooperation with the Damini House of Culture. Indian dancers participating in the performance “The Game of Dice” at the National Theatre in Oslo on 29 March will attend the workshop. This visit is a key event in promoting interaction between Norwegian and Indian dancers and choreographers and their possible engagement in future cooperation.
