SISU, a hard-hitting band, on school concert tour in India and Nepal
SISU percussionists are leaving Norway on 28 January to undertake 19 school concerts in India and Nepal. The project takes place under the banner of a five-year agreement between Concerts Norway, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local music organisations.
The percussionist group SISU has existed since 1993. The trio consists of Tomas Nilsson, Bjørn Skansen and Marius Søbye. SISU’s starting point is firmly rooted in contemporary music but the group has consistently challenged the conventions of genre throughout its career. The group’s quick-witted, unpretentious approach results in high-spirited and joyful music whether they perform contemporary classics or hits from popular culture.
The SISU begins with concerts in Jaipur on 31 January. Following 19 concerts at schools and colleges, the tour ends with an intense three-day workshop for musicians and open-air concert in Kathmandu on the 16th of February.
