Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) launches in Rajasthan

Dr. Digambar Singh, Hon’ble Health Minister, Government of Rajasthan will launch the Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) programme in Jaipur, Rajasthan on July 25, 2007.

Secretaries, Health from the five NIPI states namely, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, as well as, the members of Joint Steering Committee from Norway are expected to be present in connection with the launch. In-depth discussions will be held about the child health programmes within the NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) framework and their perspectives on child health activities implemented by UNICEF and WHO and other NIPI activities in these states.

The launch will also give an opportunity to strengthen partnerships with other implementing agencies. Representatives from agencies such as GTZ, CARE, PATH, DFID, World Bank, USAID, EC, and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in addition to representatives from professional bodies (National Neonatology Forum, Indian Association for Pediatrics, Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India, Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Society of India) will be attending the launching ceremony.

The launch will also be attended by grassroots level workers – ASHA (Accredited Social Health Workers), ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife), AWW (Anganwari Workers), and other district and state health functionaries from Rajasthan, who play a crucial role in the successful implementation of this programme.
