Applicants applying from the Norwegian Honorary Consulate in Kolkata, Chennai or Mumbai will also have to apply online. It is not possible to select the Consulates in the Online Application Portal as place of submission. Kindly submit at the Consulate during their opening hours. Do not book an appointment online.
If you submit your application in Delhi, you have to book the appointment in the online portal and submit your application according to the date and time selected.
The new application procedure will result in shorter processing time, less queues at the Embassy, as well as making it easier for applicants to re-apply for subsequent visas. Applicants can also check the status of their applications online.
The processing time for visa is ten working days from the day the Embassy or the Consulate recieve the application.
Change in opening hours from Monday October 17th: the Consular section in New Delhi will be changing our opening hours. All public dealings, including submission of applications, collection of passports as well as all telephone enquiries will be between 10:00 hrs – 13:00 hrs only (Monday to Thursday).

All applicants must together with this bring the complete supporting documents as mentioned in the respective check list, including the applicant information form.
All applications for work and residence permits will be scanned and sent electronically to UDI in Norway for processing. It is therefore important when you apply you must bring all the supporting documents and a perfect copy of each. The copies must be A4 with no staples, no stickers and no torn pages. After we have seen the originals, you will get the originals in return and the copies will be kept in the file. The only original we need to keep is the guarantee form from the reference in Norway.
Since the transfer time will be abolished, UDI expects case processing times to decline.
How to proceed after a permit has been granted
When you have been granted a residence permit to Norway after applying online, you will only need to bring your passport together with one fresh passport picture to the embassy to have your passport stamped.
Cancellation of Application
To cancel an application, you must contact the Visa Section in New Delhi. It is not possible to cancel an application using the Application Portal.

It is also possible for the sponsor in Norway or a travel agent to register an application online on behalf of the applicant (e.g. log on and pay the application fee).
Sponsors who complete the entire process for the applicant (and the applicant is unable to log on to the Portal him / herself) must send a copy of the completed application form to the applicant, so that he / she is fully aware of the information being submitted. Please also note that the applicant have to sign the application form and the cover letter.
How to apply - Existing users
Applicants who have used the Application Portal before can simply log on, use the last application as a template and only change details such as travel dates, etc., pay the fee and book an appointment to hand in the supporting documents.
Group registration
Applications can be registered individually or in groups on the Portal. A group may consist of 1 - 15 applicants, however, it is a requirement that all applicants have the same nationality and are travelling on the same dates, with the same itinerary.
Registering many applications as a group saves time, however, only individual applications may be copied for subsequent applications in the future. Families or people who always travel together to Norway may therefore want to register all applications individually.
