Requirements and application procedure
Anyone who is applying for a residence permit to Norway from New Delhi should now fill in the application form, pay the application fee online and book an appointment on the secure Application Portal before submitting their supporting documents at the Embassy.
Please bring the printout of the application form filled online along with the covering letter from the Online Application Portal, the applicant information form and all supporting documents to the embassy.

Please consult the following link for a the list of documents that must be submitted together with the application. The boxes in the form should be checked and signed to confirm which documents you have submitted. Please submit the documents in the order given. The list can be found here.
In connection with the preparation of the application, the applicant must provide all required information which might be of importance for the decision according to the Immigration Act section 83.
If the application is submitted for processing without satisfactory documentation, it may be rejected on this ground.
Please note that you may be required to supply documentation in addition to that stated above.
Every application is treated individually. Some applicants might be called for an interview at the Embassy in New Delhi.
Seven Days Entry Visa. Special Regulation Visa Type D
If you wish to obtain a permit for family immigration, you must, as a rule, have been granted a permit before entering Norway. However, in certain circumstances you may enter Norway before a permit has been granted. In such case, you must obtain an entry visa if you are subject to the visa requirement – a visa for applying for or waiting for a decision on family immigration. Such a visa will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

• Based on merits the Embassy decides in each individual case if this Special Regualtion may be observed.
• If there are any doubts, the Embasy will forward the application to the Directorate of Immigration in Norway for approval.

Parental visit – residence permit to visit children in Norway for up to nine months
If you have children living in Norway, you can be granted a residence permit that is valid for up to nine months to visit them.
