Rajendra Pachauri and Ratan Tata guests of honour at Norwegian Creative Experience

Indian, Norwegian and international guests enjoyed an evening of Norwegian creativity at the Residence of the Norwegian Ambassador to India on Thursday. More than 300 invited guests - from artists to CEOs and policy makers - had gathered to experience Norwegian fashion design, music and art of cooking.

The evening also marked the signing of a Framework Agreement between TERI and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for collaboration on energy and climate change. The Performance Theatre Foundation presented this year's Inspired Leadership Award to Ratan Tata.

The evening consisted of many elements including food, fashion and music. Each of these elements focused on environment and the importance of ecological awareness.

Renowned fashion designer-artist Julie Skarland presented a conceptual collection titled ‘A Beautiful Day’. Julie is a well-established name all across Europe and for the past 3 years has been living in India and imbibing the ethos and culture of the sub-continent. The collection consists of natural fabrics, and included motifs that convey a message in environmental conservation. Julie Skarland's unique creations are Art Couture and many of her pieces are part of collections in important Museums of Art and Design in Paris and Oslo.

A unique three-course dinner featuring ingredients that are the main stay of Norway was prepared by Chef Geir Skeie. Geir was recently awarded the prestigious Best Chef in Europe award by Bocus d’Or. The three-course dinner included a special preparation of Salmon and Halibut fish, which is extensively farmed in Norway using ecologically safe practices.

DJ Strangefruit, recognized for his sublime music, made sure that the evening was memorable.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador said, “Tonight we celebrate the relationship between India and Norway. Norway is a reliable partner, and a leader in innovation, art, design and quality. Norwegians have a close relationship with nature. We want to partner with India and the world community to ensure our common future”.

Dr. R. K Pachauri, Chair of the Noble Peace Prize-winning, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was guest of honor for the evening. Senior corporate leaders, both from Norway and India, including CEO’s and Chiefs of Telenor, Tata, Unitech, Hydro, Ikea, Lazard, Unitech, Standard Chartered  Bank and Shell attended the evening.
