Committee of Norwegian Labour Party visits New Delhi

The International Committee of the Norwegian Labour Party visited India from 8 to 13 September 2008. The Committee chaired by Mr. Olav Akselsen, counts twelve members.

The two-fold purpose for the visit was obtaining knowledge and  first hand information about India and key sectors in India and to study possibilities for strengthening relations between Norway and India.

The Committee during their stay met with Indian parliamentarians, relevant key-people and institutions. The committee also attended a panel discussion in IDSA, and a presentation on local democracy at Aagaz Foundation.

The Labour Party is the largest party in the Norwegian coalition government. The main task of the International Committee of the Norwegian Labour Party is to deliver recommendations to the party on international policies and to stimulate the debate on international issues in the Norwegian Labour Party as a whole.
