Successful Indo-Norwegian Cooperation on Reuse of Waste in Industry

Important Norwegian-Indian REDD+ policy dialogue arranged in Delhi this summer by Noragric, the University for life sciences in Norway (UMB), and the Indian research institute Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE).

The project titled “Conservation of Biological Diversity and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources: Capacity Building for Interdisciplinary Research and Application” is culminating July 31. The project is supported by the Embassy and implemented by NORAGRIC, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Ås) and ATREE (Bangalore). A project end workshop was held in Gangtok, Sikkim, between May 27 and 29.

The ClimaRice project, funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in India, held their annual workshop in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, February 21. More than 200 people representing farmers, women’s self-help groups, NGOs, government agencies and scientists contributed to the event hosted by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

The Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Farooq Abdullah, along with The Norwegian Ambassador, Ms. Ann Ollestad launched mini solar power grids in two remote villages in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
