The Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi- Climate agenda

International cooperation is vital in order to achieve national as well as global targets when it comes to promoting a sustainable future and meeting the global callenge of climate change. India’s role (and partnership) is of key importance. In light of this, the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi has been mandated by the Norwegian government to promote cooperation with India on environment and climate change at the government level, between institutions and business-to-business.

At the government level, dynamic bilateral Indo-Norwegian Joint Working Groups on both- Environment and Science and Technology are important fora for dialogue and cooperation in the field of Climate Change and Environment issues. The Embassy aims to further broad based cooperation with India in research, technology development and transfer, renewable energy, CDM and company partnerships. Building partnerships, between India and Norway, and across sectors, is a guiding principle of the work Embassy is doing. The Embassy's decision to support the "CMS VATAVARAN 2008-Environment and Wildlife Travelling Film Festival" is an example of this. The Embassy is proud to be a facilitator of project cooperation between most prominent institutions and research centers of excellence from Norway and India, on issues of mutual interest and benefit. The Embassy runs a programme of bringing these institutions together, in particular with regard to joint research projects related to energy, climate change and the environment, and strive to build public-private partnerships in order to achieve common goals.
