Quality, commitment and inspiring youth in Trondheim at “India 2011”

Last updated: 11/10/2011 // - I am impressed by what The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and its partners produced in Trondheim, and I am proud of the Embassy’s cooperation with them. "India 2011" is carried through with professionalism and quality. The event has both enlightened us and inspired us to continue the exciting cooperation and exchange of knowledge with India, says the Norwegian Ambassador to India, Ms Ann Ollestad. She emphasizes that this event was possible because of the strong presence and engagement of NTNU and its partners in India.

The ambassador participated in the opening of the city centre, the official opening of India 2011, Gandhi´s birthday and the opening of the workshop and exhibition "Save as....India", as well as a business conference for further cooperation and partnership between India and Norway.

Culture

- Artists from India and Norway found each other months back as part of NTNU’s visits to partners in India. But in the mean time, the Indians have become world famous. For instance after the Biennial in Venice, the artist Mr Praneet Soi has been recognized internationally. He and his colleagues from India and Norway continue their cooperation with a workshop and exhibition in Norway, which marks the start of a long lasting partnership.

Music

- Mr Trilok Gurtu and NTNU Jazz Ensamble gave us a five star concert the opening night. I was thrown back by the quality and the commitment by the world famous Gurtu and the young and inspiring Norwegian jazz musicians.

- Prioritize educating musicians! The artists will be export quality - and just imagine how much tax they will pay, Trilok said to the audience.

Business

- Our young generation must travel to India to learn more about business there. They must learn the culture and the language. One meets a lot of challenges in the Indian market. It takes time to do it well! One need to be patient and understand Indian culture. Start by being humble – don’t explain how things should be done. Be on the same level and cooperate. The Indians are extremely smart, extremely strategic. There is a businessman or women in every Indian, the Ambassador says to the Norwegian Newspaper Adresseavisen.
