Multicity jazzfestival in December

Last updated: 30/11/2010 // The annual coming together of jazz music, jazz musicians and jazz fans, Jazz Utsav, takes place in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore 3-5 December with Norwegian jazz artists on the programme.

The jazz Utsav festival this year has a line-up with bands and artists from Norway, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, USA and Germany. And, of course, keeping in mind the objective of promoting jazz music and musicians in the country, there will be top Indian representatives at both Delhi and Mumbai.

Jazz is a celebration of the human spirit expressed through music. Jazz Utsav is a festival of this celebration, the annual coming together of jazz music, jazz musicians and jazz fans for three days in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore 3-5 December. The festival is sponsored by Concerts Norway and the Royal Norwegian Embassy New Delhi.

Two Norwegian jazzbands participate in the Utsav festival. Mari Kvien Brunvoll is a 20 year old singer and multi-instrumentalist who does spell-binding performances through a unique, modern sampling and layering technique. And Gumbo is something quite uncommon - a pocket brass band. It is a jazz parade band in miniature, a musical fireworks which hovers somewhere between the heavily arranged and the loosely improvised.

Both Kvien Brunvoll and Gumbo will play in Bangalore 3 December, in Mumbai 4 December and in New Delhi 5 December.

The tickets for the Jazz Utsav are now available at the RSJ and KYAZOONGA Offices in Delhi for all cities. Tickets can also be bought in Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa, and online.
