Norwegian Jazz on tour in India and Bangladesh

Last updated: 27/10/2010 // Musicians Helge Lien and Christina Bjordal represent some of Norway’s finest jazz music, and will be visiting India and Bangladesh in October and November.

Helge Lien and Christine Bjordal is a very new duo, specifically created for the Asian audience. Without a doubt, Lien is one of the most exciting young piano talents in Scandinavia. Together with the acclaimed singer Christina Bjordal, the Asian audience is up for a special treat. Their music is melodic jazz, with a hint of pop. The repertoire will also include a few good, old jazz classics.

Lien has been succesful with Helge Lien Trio. With instinctive certainty, the trio has developed a “chamber music” jazz that stands out through its harmonically complex tone colors, creating distinct moods.

Christina Bjordal is a successful solo artist, and is an established name in the Norwegian vocal pop/jazz genre. Her debut album "Where Dreams Begin", with Christina Bjordal Band, was released in 2003 to great acclaim. Two years later Christina signed an exclusive contract with Universal Music, which resulted in her solo album "Brighter Days". Her last album, “Warrior of Light”, was released in 2009.

The duo will visit India and Bangladesh 27. October to 1. November. Thursday 28. October the duo will play in New Delhi at the Turquoise Cottage, Vasant Vihar.

Friday 29. October Lien and Bjordal entertain at the Royal Norwegian Embassy’s dinner in honor of the visit from Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske, hosted by H.E. Ambassador Ms. Ann Ollestad.
