Last updated: 19/05/2010 // Combining the folk music from the south, west and middle parts of Norway, Kim André Rysstad, Lajla Buer Storli and John Ole Morken performed together in a concert on the occassion of the National Day celebrations on 17th May at the Embassy in New Delhi.

The combination of fiddle, guitar and two great voices seemed a match made in heaven! The audiences enjoyed the folk music, both traditional and in an arranged form contributing to a more modern expression.

Lajla Buer Storli from Hardanger, in the western part of Norway, is a hardanger fiddle player and traditional folk singer. Her voice is clear and powerful, and reaches ethereal grounds!  She works as a freelance musician with base in Norway. She has also performed and toured in Italy, Germany and in the USA.

John Ole Morken from Ålen, in the middle part of Norway, is first and foremost a fiddle player, but he also plays the guitar in a style inspired by the sound of Norwegian fiddle music. Morken received a nomination at the Norwegian Grammy 2008 for his debut album!

Kim André Rysstad from Setesdal, the Southern part of Norway, has in a short time earned himself a profound reputation as a traditional folk singer, with a strong and personal vocal that resonates far beyond traditional music. “Tak hardt uti hand“, which is Rysstads debut album, was released to great reviews and won price for “Solo Album of the Year” at the Norwegian Folk Music Awards 2008. Rysstad is Consert Norway´s winner of Intro-Folk 2009!

The trio who have been on a three day visit to India also performed at a posh South Delhi restaurant on the 16th evening. They also took the opportunity to meet some contemporary folk and classical musicians from India.
