Three PhD grants at Svalbard for Indian students

The Norwegian Minister of Education and Research has allocated three Ph.D. grants, each of three years' duration, at The University Centre in Svalbard - UNIS, Spitsbergen, Norway for students from Indian research institutions which have ongoing or planned research collaboration with a Norwegian research institution.

This has resulted as a follow-up of the 2006 Agreement between India and Norway on co-operation in the fields of Science and Technology.

The grants are administered by The Research Council of Norway. The grantees will enjoy Norwegian employee status including health insurance and social security rights, for which contribution and income tax will be deducted from the grant.

The vacant positions are within -

• Marine ecology, Department of Arctic Biology
• Glacial marine geology, Department of Arctic Geology
• Physics of the middle atmosphere, Department of Arctic Geophysics/The Kjell Henriksen Observatory.
