The exhibition which was inaugurated by India's Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday, 21st was open till Friday, 23rd and had exhibitors from 50 nations.
Speaking at the inauguration of the exhibition, the Finance Minister reiterated India's commitment to multilateral negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The Norwegian Embassy stall was successful and had many visitors throughout the exhibition. Under the banner of “Norwegian Climate Change policy and initiatives”, the stall was designed to showcase key Norwegian environmental knowledge and expertise available to help tackle climate change related issues. This included a strong focus on information about the Embassy’s work in India in terms of Norway’s climate change policy- and targets, development initiatives, the Norwegian Government Pension Fund, and the Ministry of Finance’s carbon scheme. Also, it was an added advantage to have a representation from Innovation Norway, the commercial section of the Embassy at the exhibition to handle specific queries related to recent advances from Norway on SME development in the field of Renewable Energy, particularly-Solar and Hydropower.
The exhibition gave an excellent opportunity for not only developed countries to offer appropriate climate friendly technologies and services to India, but also for developing countries to showcase effective solutions on emissions of greenhouse gases.
Throughout the exhibition, the stall was manned by staff from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi.
