Skaidi trio warms Delhi

20/02/2008 :: The Skaidi duo, Inga Juuso and Steinar Raknes, for the occasion reinforced by guitarist Roger Ludvigsen, performed at a reception for Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg hosted by the Norwegian Ambassador to India thursday the 7th of February. Skaidi’s music is a fusion of Sámi Yoik, Jazz and World Music. Their performance took place just one day after the Sámi National Day, 6th of February.

While in Delhi the musical trio visited the National School of Drama. Beaivváš Sámi Teáhter, The National Sámi Theatre, is invited to participate at NSD’s annual theatre festival in 2009. The director, Mr. Haukur Gunnarsson, was also in Delhi and joined Skaidi in a lecture/performance at NSD. Before leaving India, they all meet with representatives from the Tibetan Institute for Performing Art (TIPA) in Mac Leod Ganj. Two of the musicians have already had a co-operation with TIPA through Beaivváš .
