13/02/2007 :: Khilona's production of Ibsen's Peer Gynt has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Mahindra Excellence in Theatre (MET) Awards 2007’ instituted by Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the biggest corporate house of India. Peer Gynt is one of the ten plays nominated for MET Awards out of over eightyfive productions seen by the jury. The play has been nominated for the following categories: Best Production, Best Design, Best Costumes, Best Music and Best Choreography.
A festival of these ten plays will be held in Delhi from March 5 to 9, 2007 at Kamani and Shri Ram Centre where the jury comprising film personalities including Sharmila Tagore, Shyam Benegal and theatre experts - Anita Ratnam and Joy Michael, will view and declare the awards. The performance of Peer Gynt for this Festival is scheduled for March 6, 2007 at 4.30 pm at the Shri Ram Centre, New Delhi
The awards will be given away in a special ceremony to be held in Delhi on March 10 and will be telecast live on NDTV.
The project of the production of Peer Gynt has been funded by The Royal Norwegian Embassy, New Delhi as part of the world-wide celebrations of International Ibsen Year 2006, to commemorate Henrik Ibsen’s Death Centenary.
